Saturday

Saturday we drove around for a few hours and stopped when we felt like it to take pictures and enjoy the day.

napping foalsWe drove up to Crystal Mountain for a few minutes before heading back down to meet some of the friends for frisbee at the park.a turkey buzzardthe spring in back of Kyle's parent's houseMolly

Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium

We really had some good days in Washington weather-wise. It was rainy when we left Kyle's parent's house after mtg but Tacoma was gorgeous. We went to the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium and saw reindeer...ducks (which really amazed Kyle)....sleepy otters...puffins...beluga whales...a massive walrus...penguins...monkeys...porcupines...a tiger...an elephant giving herself a bath...colorful fish...sharks...and a barn owl among other things. The polar bear I was looking forward to seeing was sleeping on a big rock that hid all but his ears and the tip of his back and the tapir wasn't out for some reason but we were still very entertained for a couple of hours. After the zoo we stopped to enjoy the sun by the water.

Memorial Day

Kyle and I went to Seattle for the Mariners game on Monday evening. This building on the lower right is the Smith Tower. It's the oldest skyscraper in Seattle (completed in 1914) and was the tallest west of the Mississippi until 1931. Read more about it here. The M's played the Boston Red Sox.The chandelier is actually made out of glass baseball bats. It was designed by Dale Chihuly, the same guy who made the glass flowers in the Bellagio lobby. The view from our seats: it was a beautiful day and they had the roof open for the whole game.Baseball superstitions are really funny-- Ichiro extends his right arm and pulls his sleeve up every time.

The Mariners lost (as they have been doing lately) but it was a fun game.

Thursday

Thursday was Kyle's parent's anniversary and we took them out to Red Robin for dinner. Kyle drove me by Boeing so I could see where he works.
These geese were walking across the mall parking lot.

Friday- Deep Lake

Kyle and I went to Deep Lake to enjoy the sun on Friday. It was so beautiful- blue skies and nice and warm. There were lots of people fishing out on the lake. Some crazy people were swimming too (it was warm but not that warm- especially not in the water).

Saturday was my last day- we went to Pike Place Market in the morning before going to the airport in the afternoon but no pics there- maybe on my next trip up in a couple of weeks.
